Ardeth

Owned by Ardeth O’Brien, Part of the Family Pet Memorial Centre was created because of Ardeth’s personal experience with the loss of her family dog, Montana as well as from working in the human death care industry.

Ardeth is the proud mom of three sons. As they approached adulthood, Ardeth decided she could pursue a career that suited her passion of caring for families at a time of loss and aiding them in finding a soft landing. In 2005, she began her career in a local funeral home as an attendant and grew to love every aspect of the death care industry. In addition to the experience she was gaining, Ardeth returned to school at 45 years old to gain her license as a Funeral Director.  Being a Funeral Director is not for the faint of heart, but she quickly learned that she appreciated the opportunity to help grieving families through an exceedingly difficult and vulnerable time in their lives.

Through exploring the options available to families through the loss of her family pet, Montana, Ardeth realized that there was a large sector of our society who was dealing with loss of a family member but had no real outlet to express that grief and to voice their memories in the same manner as the families she served in the human funeral industry.  There was a void in the Pet Loss After Care Industry.  Companies existed to cremate a deceased pet, but there was no one caring for the pet parents at their time of loss.

In September 2012, Ardeth proudly opened Part of the Family Pet Memorial Centre. Over the past several years she has worked hard at creating a business that provides services to families who are facing the loss of their pet that are caring, genuine, thoughtful, and transparent.  It has been a journey filled with many obstacles and unexpected turns but each heartfelt, often teary-eyed, thank you from a family that is so grateful for her services is the  heartbeat leading her forward. We strive to ensure that each pet and family that receives our services feel that they have received the best possible care for their family member.  As the name of the company indicates, pets are Part of the Family.
